This is the scrumptious wedding that Kim executed a couple of weeks ago.schultz-tisdale-014

From the standing ceremony in the park to the elegant damask paired with yummy reds & oranges and black candelabras it was exactly what the bride & groom had dreamed of (with Kim’s expert design input, of course!).

Hello Kim,
We can’t thank-you enough for how amazing everything turned out, I’m still in awe mode from all of it. Every couple I know that gets married will be referred to you because I want them to experience a wedding day like ours :)
Thanks again
Sincerely, Nicole
The bride screamed & jumped up & down for so long when she got her sneak peak of the ballroom the photographer felt compelled to come in & document it…we can’t wait to see the photos!

Purple & Orange…the San Francisco Treat!

Monday, August 31st, 2009 | trends, weddings | No Comments

This couple met in San Francisco and later got engaged in San Francisco so they wanted to find a way to incorporate that into their reception. I spent months collecting vintage images of San Francisco landmarks in both colour & B&W which were used for the ceremony programs, menus (4 different images), table numbers (18 different images) and seating chart.

It was a riot of colour…rich shades of purple and oranges…it really made the space come alive.aug-09-1042
I also loved that they received custom bobble heads as a gift and used them as the cake topper. So cute – and was a perfect touch for their character. aug-09-1033The bride called this morning to tell me what an AMAZING time they had…they were the life of the party and assured me this wedding was one for the record books.
Best wishes you guys!

Luscious Lighting, Linens & Lenny Kravitz

Monday, August 24th, 2009 | trends, weddings | No Comments

I worked with this couple since the fall of 2007 – and they were so fun…and crazy…and sweet. They wanted colourful & quirky & unique and their wedding certainly was all of those things.
The groom & groomsmen were all decked out in pale grey 3 pc suits with groovy white shoes and the bridesmaids looked great in their purple bubble dresses with hot orange shoes. I don’t usually comment on a couple’s processional but this was so different I have to mention it…the bridal party went down the aisle to music from Edward Scissorhands..and then the radiant bride made her entrance to Lady by Lenny Kravitz…it was perfect! You gotta love a bride who can pull off a formal gown & Lenny…

Their reception was a riot of colour…rich jewel tones…fuchsias, deep purples & rich teals…

We absolutely LOVED how this ballroom turned out…it was truly scrumptious. The tables were colour blocked – soft pinks, soft lavenders and soft greens…everything was very soft & ethereal and the overal effect was a gorgeous garden fete brought indoors.
aug-09-465
During the ceremony several dear congregated right behind the couple…it was so sweet…and seems like a very good omen!aug-09-501
The cake was yummy inside & out…it was so pretty and really epitmozed the overall feel of the space. mmMMmmm…

Lounge it!

Thursday, August 13th, 2009 | trends, weddings | No Comments

This couple had a lovely Ukranian Catholic ceremony follwed by a Korean Pehbek ceremony…GORGEOUS!
It was interesting observing the two families witness & interact during both of these ceremonies.
aug-09-398aug-09-405
The bride changed back into her breathtaking Ramona Keveza gown & the groom changed back into his stylish suit and continued on to their lovely Lounge we created for their reception.
aug-09-414
The low seating was accented with turquoise cushions, the low mirrored coffee tables were accented with gorgeous florals & LOTS of candles, and the tall cruiser tables kept the guests flowing throughout the space.

Live, Love, Laugh…

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009 | testimonials, trends, weddings | No Comments

So…penniless (and without a lipgloss to my name!)…the next day went on to Kananaskis for a FAB tent wedding. This gorgeous bridal party was adorned with bling so we had to make sure the reception matched. The tent in the midst of the towering pine trees was filled with crystal & bronze trees, and an oh-so-fun candy buffet.
aug-09-390 aug-09-377
When we arrived for tear down at 1am these guys were still going FULL FORCE…it’s a shame about the noise regulations in the resorts in the mountains…otherwise I have no doubt these guys (bride & groom included) would’ve danced until dawn.
aug-09-388aug-09-350
All their guests got a good sugar rush & a bottle of wine to sustain them. Everything was adorned with the couple’s motto “Live, Love, Laugh” – which they clearly do with fervor.

d-s-thx1
Thank you Lisa and all of  The Wedding Planner staff for making August 2nd the best day of our lives!!! The day was run so smoothly and completely exceeded our expectations. Much love, Andrea & James

THANK YOU ANDREA & JAMES FOR THE OH-SO-YUMMY CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES…mmmMMMMMM!!

A Picture Perfect Palette of Purple

Monday, July 6th, 2009 | trends, weddings | No Comments

july-3-4-sized
We had a picture perfect purple wedding on the weekend in Vancouver. The weather was glorious, the bride was gorgeous and the bridal party was gigantic!
july-3-1-sized
The processional of 27 (!!) was a fabulous cast of characters that included 2 tuxedo-clad pugs, a pregnant bridesmaid more than a week past her due date, 2 fathers-of-the-bride and a handful of NHL players.
july-3-3-sized
The palette of purples ranged from lilac to aubergine and was used in everything from their custom invitations, the flowers, the 3 shades of linens, the uplighting in the tent, the cake, the cupcakes, the 12,000 rose petals that lined their aisle, the custom M&Ms in their purple monogrammed favor boxes, the custom labels on the wine bottles, the custom menus, table numbers and seating charts, to the purple haze martinis that greeted the guests as the ceremony finished…it was truly spectacular.

A Fabulous Flourish of Fuchsia

We had a GORGEOUS wedding on the weekend in hot pink, black & white. The bouquets were quite simple & understated. The bridal party was large in number – but they were all tiny – so we didn’t want them to be overwhelmed or overshadowed by large bouquets. They all looked stunning in their hot pink dresses with black sashes.
This was the largest seating chart we’ve ever had printed. It was so easy to read it helped all 300 guests find their table assignments really quickly.

The bronze & crystal trees looked so amazing with all the orchids & swarovski crystals & hanging votives. The room was truly breathtaking. The mother of the bride cried when she saw it. All the details reiterated their invitations. They had custom seating chart, menus at each place setting, ceremony programs, reception programs, table numbers, place cards at the head table, and even the gobo on the dancefloor matched!
may-09-ss12 may-09-ss13
We used two large trees on the head table – they were visible from anywhere in the ballroom yet didn’t block any sight lines. They were luciously adorned with 3′ graduated strands of swarovski crystals and whole stems of mokara orchids.

This ballroom has certainly never looked quite so pretty in (hot) pink!

The Bride, formerly known as… To Change or Not To Change?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009 | etiquette, trends, weddings | No Comments

You’re getting married and there’s still that unanswered question; do I change my surname? Changing your name is a very personal decision, and should be considered by both you and your significant other.

Here are some pointers to help you in your decision if you are still unsure of what to do!

– tradition; if you have been following tradition from the beginning of the planning process, this would be the logical decision
– if you have an established career and everyone knows your maiden name, how hard would it be to let your colleagues and clients know that you have decided to change your name?
– there are some brides that use their maiden name professionally, and change their name personally
– if you and your spouse are planning on having children, it would be easier to have the same last name, especially in situations involving their school, travelling abroad, going to the doctor etc.
– if you’re worried about dropping your maiden name because you are the last in your family’s lineage with that name, consider passing it on to one of your children as a first or middle name
– how does your first name sound with his? Does it roll off the tongue, or does it rhyme, making it sound like a children’s book character?
– your maiden name has always been apart of you, but who’s to say that you have to drop it all together, more brides are opting to carry it over as a middle name
– some grooms are even taking their bride’s last name!
– you can always hyphenate your names
– if you are still unsure, a good old pros and cons list can help immensely
